Sarada Tiwari serves as a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Analyst within the Action Area -Adapting and Transforming Livelihoods and Economics (AAC) under Strategic Group 2 at ICIMOD, where she commenced her role in May 2024. Previously, she contributed over three years as a researcher with the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR)-funded action research project at ForestAction Nepal, focusing on GESI and governance within community forestry. She also gained valuable experience as a Livelihood Officer with the Nepal Red Cross Society.

Sarada is an accomplished author and co-author of numerous research articles covering topics such as ecotourism, forest fires, and the gender inequality in community forestry. Her research has been presented at prestigious international platforms like the International (SAARC) Youth Scientific Conference on Science and Technology, the South Asian Agroforestry Conference, and the IUFRO World Congress. She has been awarded several grants to support her research, including the Student Dissertation Grant from the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) and NORHED SUNREM. Sarada has also been awarded international fellowships from the Eco-Peace Leadership Centre, the Protected Areas Learning and Research Collaboration (PALRC), and the ACIAR, enabling her to represent herself at prominent international events and trainings, including the Asia-Pacific Environment Forum, the Chuncheon Urban Forestry Forum in South Korea, the ‘Adaptive Management for Conservation’ course in Australia, and the IUFRO World Congress in Sweden.

Sarada holds a master’s degree in forestry from the Institute of Forestry, Tribhuvan University. Backed by her diverse experiences and expertise, Sarada is dedicated to advancing equitable and inclusive practices and solutions for sustainable livelihoods, especially in the areas of forestry and natural resource management.
