Remote Sensing and Geo - Information Associate Managing cryosphere and water risks (SG1-AAA) Climate and environmental risks (SG1)
Sarthak Shrestha is a Remote Sensing and Geo-Information Associate for ICIMOD’s work on Disaster Risk Reduction. He took up this position in 2022.
Sarthak leverages Earth Observation satellite data and ground-based data analytics to assess and understand the dynamics of climate change in the Hindu Kush Himalaya region. His work contributes to the development of climate tools and capacity building programs that enhance communities’ resilience to natural disasters.
His expertise spans hardware/software solutions and geospatial applications for asset management and infrastructure monitoring as well as developing tools for resilient agriculture practices. He previously worked as Application Developer, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Engineer, and Satellite Analyst for Crop and Climate applications in both national and international companies in Nepal and Thailand.
Sarthak has a background in Civil and Infrastructure Engineering and a specialization in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems from the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand.
