Sunipa Das Gupta

Sunipa joined ICIMOD as a Publication Coordination Officer (Editor) in January 2025. She is primarily responsible for the editing and editorial management of ICIMOD’s technical and scientific publications.

Sunipa brings with her 15 years of cross-functional experience in agricultural development research and policy support, programme management, and communication and knowledge management. Prior to joining ICIMOD, she worked nearly a decade for CGIAR’s (formerly the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research) International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), working in research and program management at their South Asia regional office and field office in Ghana. She was a Research Fellow at the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) and has experience in strategic communication and knowledge management, including a role as Senior Assistant Editor at the Economic and Political Weekly (EPW), and Science Communication Consultant with CGIAR’s International Water Management Institute (IWMI).

In addition to reviewing and editing work by researchers, academics, policymakers, and development practitioners, Sunipa is a published co-author in journals like the European Journal of Development Research, China Agricultural Economic Review, and Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, as well as various technical reports, editorial pieces, and blogs. Since 2019, she has also served as a visiting faculty member at the School of Economics and Public Policy at the University of Mumbai, conducting academic writing workshops for postgraduate students.

Given her diverse experience and transferable skill sets, Sunipa is eager to facilitate a research-communication interface for policy support and advocacy. She holds an MPhil in Economics from the University of Kolkata (formerly Calcutta).
