Communications Officer – Himalayan Resilience Enabling Action Programme (HI-REAP) Resilient mountain economies and landscapes (SG2)
Sushmita Kunwar is the Communications Officer for the Himalayan Resilience Enabling Action Programme (HI-REAP) supported by the FCDO, UK under their Climate Action for Resilient Asia (CARA) initiative.
During over four years at ICIMOD, Sushmita has planned and executed impactful outreach and communication efforts, including for global events such as the 2022 United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP15) and the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), and for the 2024 author’s meeting for the nexus assessment of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).
Previously, she worked at the United Nations Information Centre and Solar Cinema Nepal, creating engaging content for policymakers, general audience and local communities.
Sushmita holds an undergraduate degree in English from St. Xavier’s College, Tribhuwan University, Nepal. She is an alumna of the Erasmus Mundus program in Finland, where her academic pursuits centred on sustainable development, community participation, and empowerment.
