Ujjwal Bajracharya is a Senior Information Technology Associate at ICIMOD, where he has worked on computing and communications solutions for over nine years.
He has over two decades of experience working in the information technology (IT) sector, specializing in data centre management, server administration, network management, and information and communications technology (ICT) operations.
Previously, he served as an IT officer at GIZ Nepal for 10 years, overseeing IT-related installations and support.
Ujjwal’s extensive certifications showcase his commitment to ensuring secure and efficient IT operations. He is a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), with a focus on Windows Server 2016 in Cloud Platform and Infrastructure. He also has the following certifications: Microsoft Administering System Center Configuration Manager; Certified Data Centre Professional from HPE Education Services, Singapore; Microsoft Certified Solution Associate (MCSA) for Windows Server 2016; Certified Ethical Hacker v11; Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) 2012 and 2003.

I protect the pulse of the planet in part by protecting ICIMOD’s systems and ensuring a good environment for the important information exchange work done by all colleagues.
What is your favorite part of the work you do at ICIMOD?
This is one place where you can learn and implement different technologies to support many different kinds of research.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about taking nature photography.
My qualifications
With more than 20 years of IT experience, I’ve worked with ICIMOD for 5 years and prior to joining, I had worked for GIZ Nepal as an IT officer for 10 years, where I was responsible for all IT-related installation, support and coordination.
I graduated from Kathmandu College (Purvanchal University), Nepal with a Bachelor’s degree in computer applications and am a Microsoft® Certified Solutions Expert with certification in Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2016 in Cloud Platform and Infrastructure. Some of my other certifications include: Microsoft Administering System Center Configuration Manager, Certified Data Centre Professional from HPE Education Services, Singapore; Microsoft Certified Solution Associate for Windows Server 2016; and Microsoft Certified System Engineer 2012 and 2003.
