MESSAGE FROM THE COORDINATOR
If challenges provide us opportunities to learn, then 2020 has certainly been a year of great learning. Among many, an important learning was that physical distance can be overcome via digital technology. As a result, we had a busy schedule in 2020 despite the global pandemic. We greatly appreciate all the work that was done in the Kailash Sacred Landscape in 2020.
We dedicate this issue of Kailash Connections to Dr Ranbeer Singh Rawal, Director, GB Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment, India. Dr Rawal, one of the key designers of the Kailash Sacred Landscape Conservation and Development Initiative, was an active proponent of this programme. Under his guidance and leadership, the programme achieved many milestones in the landscape. Dr Rawal passed away in Bareilly, India, on 23 April 2021.
