The promise of new beginnings

I'd like to extend my warmest wishes to all our friends for this New Year, which I hope will bring good health, good work, and prosperity! Since the turn of the new year, we've been thinking a lot about the future of the HKH region as we're fully engaged in a strategy development process that will help us define our next planning period from 2023 to 2030 and help us as an institution focus on where we can have the greatest impact. Given that the UN has declared 2022 the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development, this is the perfect time to gear up for accelerated action for mountains and people!

A checklist of Mistletoes of Nepal

This dataset lists 21 species of Mistletoes compiled from literature resources as indicated in the dataset. Mistletoes constitute a polyphyletic group of flowering parasitic plants and are commonly known as 'Ainjeru' or 'Lisso' in Nepali. Mistletoes are entirely dependent on their hosts for water and nutrients and affect their hosts mainly by competing for limited resources.

Proceedings of the workshop on distribution of glaciers and glacial lakes in Afghanistan and observed changes (1990'2015)

Together with Afghanistan's National Water Affairs Regulation Authority (NWARA), we organized a workshop in Kabul in November 2020 to share databases on Afghanistan's glaciers and glacial lakes. These databases were developed jointly by ICIMOD and NWARA through our SERVIR Hindu Kush Himalaya (SERVIR-HKH) Initiative. Afghanistan's glacier dataset (1990'2015) was released in 2018.
